Summit, an IT infrastructure provider offering cloud, data center, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity solutions, disclosed on Oct. 28, 2026, that it has grown capacity at its Ashburn, Virginia, data center by 60%.

The additional space is earmarked for enterprise colocation deployments and is accessible through the company's "Colo in Any Market" offering. The company positioned the buildout against a backdrop of tightening supply across the industry.

Hyperscale Demand Tightens Enterprise Colocation Supply

Per the announcement, hyperscale operators now represent 59% of tenant demand in North American data centers, vacancy has fallen to 1%, and 95% of capacity currently under construction is already spoken for. Enterprises seeking smaller footprints face the hardest path, the release noted, since large-scale projects command most of the available inventory.

"Hyperscalers get most of the headlines, but businesses running traditional IT workloads require data center capacity, too," said Andre Wu, CEO of Summit.

"They still need reliable infrastructure to run mission-critical applications, protect against downtime, and modernize aging systems. As more capacity goes toward large-scale deployments, we're expanding to help ensure enterprises aren't left behind."

How the Colo in Any Market Program Works

Under the program, Summit works with businesses to locate colocation options matched to their individual infrastructure requirements.

The company says it can identify capacity in markets worldwide within 48 hours, after which it coordinates pricing, availability, and deployment logistics through its network of data center partners. Wu also pointed to pressures beyond sheer scarcity.

"Beyond capacity constraints, rising hardware costs and longer procurement timelines are making infrastructure decisions even more challenging," he said.

"Businesses need the flexibility to choose infrastructure that meets their needs today without limiting their options as technology and business requirements change."
