Crusoe has submitted permit filings for two additional data center buildings at its Goodnight Campus in Claude, Texas, with each structure carrying an estimated construction cost of USD 500 million, as the AI infrastructure company pushes forward with one of the most ambitious data center developments in the state.

New Buildings Expand a Rapidly Growing Campus

The two latest filings, designated Buildings 3 and 4, are each set to span 805,380 square feet, or approximately 74,822 square meters.

Filings were submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Work on both structures has already begun, with one of the buildings reportedly due to reach completion this month and the other scheduled to be finished by the end of the first quarter of 2027.

The Goodnight Campus, also known as Project Llano, is situated at 10001 Lima Road in Claude, Armstrong County, just east of Amarillo.

The development is being filed under the Crusoe affiliate entity GN DC1, LLC. The campus is planned to span at least six single-story buildings in total, with phases going live from August 2026 through February 2027.

According to filings, four of the buildings across the campus will each span 805,380 square feet, while two additional structures are each planned to total 484,955 square feet, or roughly 45,054 square meters.

Seven Buildings and More Than 1GW Projected

Research firm Aterio Research indicates the full campus will ultimately feature seven buildings and deliver more than one gigawatt of capacity.

According to Aterio, the first phase of the project will cover four buildings and provide 530 megawatts, while a second phase will add three more buildings contributing 500 megawatts of additional capacity.

Aterio projects total investment in the project will reach USD 29 billion and suggests the Goodnight Campus will mirror Crusoe's existing Abilene campus in design and scope.

Crusoe's Expanding Texas Footprint

The Goodnight Campus is one of several large-scale data center projects Crusoe is advancing across Texas.

The company is also developing a 1 gigawatt data center campus in Childress and is behind the Abilene campus that currently serves as infrastructure for OpenAI.

Further capacity at the Abilene site is set to be leased to Microsoft.

The scale of Crusoe's activity in Texas reflects a broader expansion strategy.

The company recently stated it has contracted 4.9 gigawatts of AI infrastructure spanning its data center projects and capacity for Crusoe Cloud.

Crusoe's total development pipeline, which includes contracted projects and sites under active tenant negotiation in advanced development, exceeds 40 gigawatts.

Construction Site Fire Earlier This Year

The Goodnight Campus development has not been without incident. In March of this year, a fire broke out near the construction site, prompting Crusoe to partially evacuate.

The filing activity and reported construction progress since then suggest the project has continued to advance despite that disruption.

Site Details and Timeline

The campus is located in Armstrong County, a rural area in the Texas Panhandle region. Claude is situated just east of Amarillo, placing the campus in a part of the state that has seen growing interest from data center developers attracted by available land and power infrastructure.

The phased delivery schedule, running from August 2026 to February 2027 for the first tranche of buildings, reflects the urgency with which AI-focused infrastructure developers are racing to bring capacity online to meet surging demand.

With Buildings 3 and 4 now under active construction alongside the earlier structures, the Goodnight Campus is taking shape as one of the larger single-site data center investments underway anywhere in the United States.

The combined construction costs for just these two most recently filed buildings amount to USD 1 billion, underscoring the capital intensity of the buildout Crusoe is pursuing across its Texas portfolio.
