Uniti Wholesale Expands Network Presence in McAllen and Chandler Data Centers
Uniti Wholesale has announced new network deployments at two data centers, one in McAllen, Texas, and one in Chandler, Arizona, as the company moves to strengthen its high-capacity wave services along U.S.-Mexico corridors and key Southwest routes serving hyperscale, cloud and AI-driven traffic growth.
New Footprint at Two Strategic Sites
The Little Rock, Arkansas-based company announced on September 8, 2026 that it has established a new network presence at the fifteenfortyseven Critical Systems Realty, known as 1547, data center located at 200 S. 10th St. in McAllen, Texas, and at the H5 Data Center at 2600 W. Germann Rd. in Chandler, Arizona.
Both expansions are designed to support 100G and 400G wave services across routes that the company describes as increasingly critical for cross-border, hyperscale, AI, and long-haul traffic.
The announcements reflect what Uniti Wholesale characterizes as rising demand from carriers, service providers, hyperscalers and cloud providers for optical networks offering greater capacity, route diversity, and access to key interconnection points.
McAllen: Deepening Presence at a U.S.-Mexico Gateway
In McAllen, Uniti Wholesale is building on an existing presence at MDC Data Centers by adding the 1547 facility, giving customers two points of access in a market the company identifies as one of the most strategic gateways for U.S.-Mexico traffic.
The dual-site approach is intended to provide additional flexibility, resiliency, and optionality for carriers, ISPs, content providers, content delivery networks and cloud providers operating in the region.
A significant element of the McAllen expansion is the role of the 1547 data center in the local interconnection ecosystem. In December 2025, 1547 established the MCT-IX internet exchange at the facility, and the site continues to develop the ecosystem surrounding it.
According to Uniti Wholesale, the exchange is expected to become an increasingly valuable interconnection hub over time, offering regional traffic exchange that reduces dependence on interconnection in Dallas, Houston, or Mexico City.
Uniti Wholesale said it holds diverse building entrance facilities and owns fiber in the McAllen market, which it says positions the company to support future customer growth with added scale and route diversity as requirements evolve.
Chandler: Extending Reach into Major Western U.S.
Markets
The expansion at the H5 Data Center in Chandler broadens Uniti Wholesale's footprint in the Southwest and is designed to give customers stronger access to key regional routes, as well as a path toward broader long-haul reach into major western U.S. markets, including Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.
Uniti Wholesale framed the Chandler deployment as part of an effort to deliver efficient, high-capacity wavelength services in a region where traffic demands are growing alongside cloud adoption and hyperscale investment.
Wave Services Built for AI and Hyperscale Growth
Taken together, the two expansions are aimed at reinforcing Uniti Wholesale's wavelength offering for customers managing rising traffic volumes across cross-border, regional and long-haul routes.
The company said the buildout provides stronger access in a critical Mexico gateway, more efficient connectivity into key U.S. routes, and a network foundation it says is built to scale with demand for high-capacity services, including 400G wavelengths, as cloud adoption, hyperscale expansion and AI-driven workloads continue to grow.
John Nishimoto, senior vice president of strategy, products, and marketing at Uniti Wholesale, said the market drivers behind both expansions are well established.
"Traffic growth across U.S.-Mexico corridors and the Southwest is being driven by cloud expansion, hyperscale investment and AI-related demand, and our customers need infrastructure that is built to keep pace," Nishimoto said.
"By deepening our presence in McAllen and expanding in Chandler, we are giving customers stronger network options in two strategic markets and extending the reach of our high-capacity wave offering."
Industry Showcase at Mexico Connect
Uniti Wholesale said it will highlight both expansions at Mexico Connect, the industry event taking place September 9 and 10 in Mexico City. The company described its participation as part of an ongoing commitment to delivering scalable, resilient wholesale connectivity across the U.S.-Mexico region.
Uniti Wholesale is a business unit of Uniti, which trades on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol UNIT. The company describes its optical transport network as reaching nearly every hyperscale and AI firm, communications services provider, Fortune 500 enterprise and federal government customer in the United States and Canada.
