Google has filed applications to expand a data center campus currently under construction in LaGrange, Georgia, with plans for a second building valued at USD 1 billion that could extend the project's construction timeline to 2029.

Details of the Expansion Filing

KDC, acting on behalf of the property owner, submitted a development of regional impact application to Georgia's State Department of Community Affairs for the project, designated PRL2.

The filing covers a proposed 470,000 square foot building at 411 Pegasus Parkway, which would sit alongside an existing building already in development on the same site. Construction on the new structure could continue through 2029.

The application acknowledged the possibility of further growth beyond the two buildings but was cautious in its framing, stating that future phases remain speculative at this time.

About the LaGrange Site

LaGrange sits in Troup County, approximately 70 miles southwest of Atlanta. The site spans 270 acres and was previously a manufacturing facility operated by plastics firm Jindal Films.

Thor Equities had originally been developing the property and had projected that the first building could reach 50 megawatts of capacity and go live in late 2026 or early 2027, with the site eventually targeted to reach 400 megawatts of total capacity.

Thor Equities has since confirmed to Data Center Dynamics that it is no longer involved in the project.

Google publicly confirmed its involvement at the LaGrange site in April of this year. Work on the first building is currently ongoing.

Google's Growing Georgia Footprint

The LaGrange campus represents one of several data center investments Google is pursuing across Georgia.

The company has operated an existing data center campus in Douglas County, near Atlanta, since 2007, with that facility having been expanded in 2015.

Google has also purchased 950 acres in Monroe County, Georgia, a transaction that closed in October 2025, where it is developing additional capacity.

A separate 1.2 gigawatt data center project in Irwin County, Georgia, has been linked to Google, though the company has not officially announced any involvement there.

Context Within Broader Data Center Activity

The LaGrange expansion filing adds to a wave of large-scale data center investment activity across the United States and beyond.

The USD 1 billion valuation attached to the proposed second building at the LaGrange site underscores the scale of capital flowing into data center construction as demand for cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure continues to drive development pipelines.

The PRL2 project, if completed on the current timeline, would bring a significant additional footprint to the Troup County site, building on the capacity already being established through the first building's construction.
